intramural champs+some awesome dates//other stuff.

First things first, guess who won our division of BYU intramural mixed doubles tennis? Dylan and I. Yes, yes, we're proud too (:

Secondly, I went on an AWESOME & CREATIVE date last Saturday?? Yep... Hunter and I used {in my case, nonexistent} artistic skills on a Jackson Pollock inspired painting date. {Hunter, however, is a fantastic artist... unfair.} I highly suggest this, folks. It was seriously great fun!

I know you wish that your phone camera was as high-quality as mine (;

Then a group of us went to the men's volleyball game. After that I went Disco Roller Blading! {I mean, I literally cannot roller blade to save my life... the poor guy I went with... but still a great night!}

Here. Have a picture of Cady and I laying on Kayla's bed, being lonely because Kayla has a job and whatnot {so does Cady... I am the outlier here....}. So she wasn't hanging out with us. Tuesdays and Thursdays are rough with her at work. Lame.

Here. Have another high-quality photo of Cady, Hunter, and I at Roll Up Cafe {aka the best crepe place in the world}. Sometimes you hit a limit on the amount of homework you can do... which is where 11 p.m. crepe runs come in handy.

Oh wait, now you get to see the adorable picture of Caitlin and Evan that Danielle sent me. My nephew and niece should get the award for being the cutest Bronco's fans (:

This is the truth of life, Cady and I decided. Last semester we went the "Social Life" and "Good Grades" route. This semester we're going the "Good Grades" and "Sleep" route. D's get degrees... but unfortunately they don't get you BYU scholarships. {poor college student problems}. Plus... I'm pretty sure 95% of my nightmares revolve around failing tests. A's are a lot harder to come by than they were in high school. So, yeah, that's fun. I guess doing well in school kinda makes a person feel better too (:

Sam sent me an application I'm supposed to fill out after going on more than 2 dates with someone because she's so far away. My best friend is  h i l a r i o u s  folks.

Once again... I just really enjoy music so here's the soundtrack of the day:

And of course- the pin of the day:

Sometimes we get caught up in trying to be the person that other people want us to be. Even when those other people want what's best for us, that doesn't mean they they know us. They don't know all of our goals or our thoughts or our wishes. Ultimately, only you and Heavenly Father know who you truly are. And that, my friends, is why I think that being true to who you are is possibly the most important thing you can do. {did that sentence make sense?}

Here's to a great weekend! {one full of studying for my 4 midterms and 2 papers that all fall next week. oh yay.}

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

tennis regionals.

my last year on the tennis team... regionals? great!

sunburns, immaturity, self-portrait, olive garden, and sharpie tattoos.
what else could I ask for? we even got two girls to state (first time since my freshman year!). I got to quarter finals, then Cortez beat me (remember the girl that rolled her ankle? yeah... it was that girl.) anways, I didn't take many pictures because I was having too much fun!

We started out our tuesday by having a team lunch at the park! then we left for grand junction right after school was out!

after a few pictures with colleen (my doubles partner last year and the other team captain!) we got to junction...

we practices while coach went to the coaches meetings, which took forrreeevvvvaaaa... so we walked to mcdonalds (which I had not eaten dinner at for about 10 years... mcdonalds. is. gross.)

of course, that involved playing in the play place!

then the next day came with awesomeness. playing a few matches (won one, lost one) then sharpie tattoos on evvveerryyoonnee and cheering on all the other girls! and falling asleep in the sun... and waking up like a lobster, true story.

my sharpie tattoo!

hey there tennis tan lines...

unless you were playing, it was FREEZING cold. seriously, while we were watching 3 doubs on wednesday, I honestly thought I was going to freeze. yeah... looks sunny? wrong, stupid colorado wind chill.

overall though, I'm gonna miss these girls, and this team, and high school tennis. seriously so much. (but I'm saving that goodbye post for after the team banquet).

yep! and my tennis tanlines? as bad a ever!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

randomness.

Last week was CRAZY. tennis matches (I actually won one!), team dinners, penny surfing (yes, penny surfing). oh, and the choir competition on Friday. (yep... outstanding 4A mixed choir. love my choir)

well, I have very limited time, and I have an entire prom post to write, so this is all for this post!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

welcome to colorado.

1. I would love to tell you that I took these pictures in January, and am now just getting around to posting them. But no. Not at all.

I wore a t-shirt today people. with no coat. because it's april.

This is not ok.

The saddest part is that this happens every single April. and every single April I think that this year will be better. And it never is. People. I wore shorts like two days ago. It was 70 degrees LAST WEEK. THIS IS NOT OK. Walking out to lunch and seeing my car covered in snow... not ok at all.

2. We leave for FCCLA state tomorrow (yes, Katie and I get to go!) Here's to a weekend of random dance parties, all nighters, spa nights with the girls, and of course... whoooopin everyone in COMPETITION!!

3. 39 days and 21 hours until graduation.

4. 25 days of actual school left. and lets face it... because of tennis, fccla, and choir, I'll be missing AT LEAST 7 of those days... plus possibly more. not too sad about that fact.

5. I'm so tired. which shouldn't be possible since last week was spring break and I slept tons.

6. I got my graduation announcements... now just to address them to 76 people. anyone wanna volunteer to help? :(

7. Tennis.

really, there's not much to say about it. today our match got cancelled (obviously) but now I'm headed to a team dinner!

Well, that's all I've got to say... I'll be checking in after FCCLA state!!! Hope all of you are having a warmer April day than I am!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

seminary. school. scholarship. tennis.

you see that tittle right there? yep. that sums up my entire last few weeks. Get up around 6:45, go to seminary, then school, then tennis, then come home (if I'm lucky... usually I have things to do after tennis), do homework, do scholarships, go to bed between 12-3 a.m. depending on my amount of homework and which scholarships are due. Really, if I get to bed before midnight, I consider it going to bed VERY early. And I've come up with the best time-saving methods. Braiding my hair before bed, waking up and eating breakfast like it was a race, then brushing my teeth then changing. On the way to seminary I take out the braid, put some hair spray when I get out of my car at the church, then after seminary put on mascara. and wall-ah... hello to looking like a hobo!!

So, like I said... I've been doing tons and tons of scholarships. AANNDD yesterday I heard back from the very first scholarship

{drumroll please}

I GOT IT!!

I was sooo excited!

Second, seminary (as always) is so much fun. and once again, my seminary teacher is better than yours. the end.

we tied our selves together and went on an Easter Egg hunt! (then, the Easter eggs had scripture mastery's we had to look up... be jealous of my awesome seminary teacher, she is better than yours.) Sam blogged about it too.

then yesterday was the assembly. National Honor Society just concluded raising money for Pennies for Patients within our school... and because MHS rasied almost $850 we had teacher willing to do awesome things... dress up like Blanche from Streetcar Named Desire (that was my AP English teacher...), my sophomore Bio teacher who got a pie in the face thrown by his wife, and three coaches who agreed to do an obstacle course... that was hilarious. AANNDD I had to talk in front of the whole school, which was quite nerve-wracking, and is probably the reason I didn't join student council.

(picture from Gerke MHS FB page).

I then had a tennis match... which I lost in a tie breaker 5-7 :(

but, oh well!! the rest of the team won though, so it all worked out! After our match (mine took forever and a day) Kelsey, Me and my parents went to Qdoba, then Kelsey and I and some other friends went to the school play... let me tell ya, that was one of the funniest plays I've ever been to!

And last but not least... today is the first day of spring break!! So... that means that I'm off to clean, do homework, and complete some scholarships! yay for senior year *sarcasm*

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

tennis team dinner.

so, I know I've mentioned this... but I love my tennis team so so so so so very much. every year I wonder how the next year could be better, but somehow it always is. and last year is pretty hard to beat...

on Friday we had our first tennis team dinner at my house! ahhh, these girls (and manager) are soooo fun! the night was full of Just Dance 3, ping pong, fuse ball, sloppy joes, and harry potter.

ummm... yeahhh, I don't know either.

this is possibly the best picture ever.

this girl graduated last year, but she's back for spring break... so obviously we made her come!

a movie night without harry potter is no movie night at all.

and that was a night full of fun and amazingness! I am soooo blessed to have such a wonderful team to end my senior year with (:

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

tennis season.

wow! can't believe it's actually tennis time again... this year is flying by (but yet it seems like it's going so slow). Well, you know how I couldn't decide between tennis and orchestra? yep... I'm doing both. granted, I have no time anymore (I didn't really before, either), but I'm thinkin' it's worth it. these girls mean soo much to me, I can't believe that I've been able to be on a team with some of them for years.

the seniors!

we won our first match 4-3 (I won 6-1 6-0!!... though I won't be that lucky anymore probably) and we head to the first big event of the season tomorrow... western slope open! I'm so excited for an overnight trip with the team(:

this season is going to be the best!

sincerely,
erica michelle

10 things.

1. Last night I had a milkshake-making party (pictures seen above)... it was a success!

2. I officially have a roommate for freshmen year at BYU... her name is Kayla and I couldn't be more excited!!! After I joined the incoming freshmen page on BYU, she messaged me, we got to know more about eachother, and then we decided we would be the best roommates ever!

3. I'm so busy, it's not even funny.

4. I got a pair of yoga pants... ok, actually two pairs, and they are the best invention in the entire world. check that off my to-do list.

5. My best friend got an iphone! (Remember this girl?) #teamapple

6. Monday I was up until 4 a.m. (not exaggerating, ask my mom) working on the Marvin Gill Scholarship. Please? (needless to say, I missed seiminary and photography and choir on Tuesday). If I got that scholarship everything would be perfect. I will absolutely-one-hundred-percent-positively be able to do a full semester study abroad. Please Please Please??

7. It is 66 days until the last minute of high school (forget about counting down till graduation... I just want the last day of school)

8. I really really really want to read "How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World" but I'm not letting myself until I have an A in all of my classes. Stupid AP US History. My kind of motivation for school... not letting myself read books. It's killing me.

9. You know my FCCLA project with Caitlin, Sam, and Katie? Yeah... about that... It's going... interestingly.

10. THAT IS RIGHT FOLKS... this girl is #2 Singles on the MHS Tennis Team!!! (Hello getting dominated all season...) Finally... a singles spot! aannnnddd tennis team captain!!

Just my quite little check-in!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

powderpuff plans and other shindigs...

Hello there! Here i am, being a good little blogger! My week has been WONDERFUL! and full of tests, homework, snow cones, and house sitting...

Sunday.
I gave a talk in church... not so fun. i swear, i think i talk every three months. and sadly, very sadly, that isn't even exaggerating. and then... yeah, that about it. the usual web chatting with the siblings, i wrote zach a letter, and whatnot.

Monday.
monday morning i did something that was so out of my league, i'm still amazed by it.

i signed up for powderpuff football.

yes. you heard that correctly...
you see... kelsey, kelly, and i decided that we're only in high school once. aaanndd we're seniors so this is our last chance. yes, it is girls that we don't have much in common with, but it's our last year. so we figured we might as well do it. aannnddd it turns into legit tackling football every year... which is scary.

i house sitted (is that a word?) from monday to thursday... the dog's name is Cruz, for future reference...

Tuesday.
I left school early to go to Delta with the boys tennis team. aanndd, i learned that all they do is have rap battles, actually it's quite entertaining...
The boys won!! (actually, it was hotchkiss...)
aanndd like all six managers went... unfortunately i didn't get any pictures of all of us :(

we eat so healthily.
Then we went to taco time. um... yeah, there's a story that i'm not going to write on this dear little blog of mine. let's just say that i learned my lesson and i feel very, very bad.
we had a lemon eating contest, and i failed basically.
this is what sam and kaeti look like while eating lemons:

this is what i look like:

oh goodness.

then mutual was AWESOME! drip drip splash. dang straight! it's like duck duck goose... with water... drip drip then
booommm
entire pitcher of water on your head!

i was pretty drenched after this!
but then the church sprinklers turned on! soooo, obviously we ran through them!
then katie and i left, and had us a nice little chat about life!(:

wednesday.
right after school i had an officer meeting for NHS. actually, i really think i'm going to love being president! and the other officers are AMAZING! it's going to be a great year(:
after that, i went to salvation army with Erik, Trent, James, Katie, and Sam... it was pretty great(:

Then, on the way home, James and I drove by the snow cone place and it was OPEN! so we went back to the high school, everyone else (besides katie and i) had to go to sports or work, but we really wanted snow cones... so we went and got them! this is the last week they're open until next summer so we might as well enjoy it!

then, katie and i went to buy granola bars for the boys tennis team.

and

i told jim that i was quitting tennis manager.

it really was a harder decision than i thought. but i had to decide between violin or tennis managering. i can't do both. my violin lessons are quite expensive, not to mention gas to junction, so in order for me to truly feel like i'm not wasting my parents money, i need to practice more. like, the first week of school, with tennis, clubs, and tons of homework, i practiced once. for like 30 minutes, if that. which is really sad, because i love violin. a lot. i remember when i was 8, i was practicing. it was late (although now that i think about it, it was probably like 8 p.m.) and my mom and i were fighting because i didn't want to. and she told me something that i haven't forgotten to this day. she said that i'd thank her for making me practice.

and you know what? i do. and i tell her that now. because i love music. and i love violin. and when it comes down to it, tennis is getting me no where in life, whereas music will. so i might as well dedicate an hour of my afternoon to it. (or more would be great, but i have too much going on haha)

anyways, that was my random tangent about violin.

after telling jim that i was quitting, katie and i went back to the house that i was house sitting for. we did some homework, had a nice little chat, and so on.

then dinner.

then katie spent the night. oh gosh, it was hilarious. Cruz is huge. and he likes licking people. so katie was very upset. ffuunnnyyy stuff i tell you, funnnyyy ssttuufff...

Thursday.
Well, there was an assembly during access, not too exciting...
except the fact that they mentioned volleyball and football numerous times. and other sports, (aka tennis) ZERO. it's whatever, it's not like we're important or anything *cough cough*

lunches are sad on thursday cuz Kelly, Sam, and Kelsey all have B lunch... and i have A. very depressing i tell you. i'm by my lonesome self. actually, that's what i thought, but Kym has A so all was good(:

During the beginning of open hour i had an appointment with Mr. Barnhill (principal) about NHS service project... dang, i get nervous when i have to talk to him! i really shouldn't since i talk to him alllll the time for my various clubs... oh well (:

Open hour.... kelsey, sam, and i went to target to get a pretzel. only problem was that we only had 20 minutes left so we were hurrying... aanndd we got our pretzel but their cash register was broken. so we waited and waited and waited... finally, we asked the manager if we could leave money since we were running late and had school...
guess what? she gave us everything for free(:
you know what tastes better than a pretzel?

a free pretzel(:

Friday.

seminary scripture mastery game day(: wayyy fun today! we had these balls of tape with candy, and we had partners. one partner had to find the mastery that sister knight was reading while the other partner had to unroll the tape and eat the candy... very very fun(:

then, there was a:

HOME FOOTBALL GAME(:

quite fun really, first, i sang the national anthem with the choir like always, then helped out with the tennis fundraiser... (actually, i just told every person that walked by me, that they should buy a hot dog... it got very boring after awhile...)

then i spent the rest of the game with Kelly, James, Caitlin, and Cambria...

no big deal, but the score was 59-20... just sayin(:

Anyways, that was my first full week of being a senior! It's off to a great start!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle
