Good news! I made it through this week. It took a lot of studying and homework and diet coke and one melt down, but I made it, so that's good, right?
^^This is what my week looked like in a nutshell^^
I had midterms this week. lots of 'em. and papers. and yeah. It was pretty fun, I'd say. This week beat my finals week last semester. What will happen when I'm in a bunch of upper level classes? I'm scared.
my last little rant: I liked multiple choice tests until there were a bunch of questions on my econ midterm that were answers A-H. yes, as in a, b, c, d, e, f, g, and h were all options for the answer. all I ask for is good grades. why.
On to a happier subject... My ward is playing assassin. Just in case you're wondering what the heck I'm talking about, it goes something like this:
Get a partner. Randomly get assigned a partnership that you and your partner are supposed to hunt down and "kill" {aka... mark them with a highlighter/marker before they get you}. Once you get that team, you have to get whoever they were hunting. And it keeps going. on and on. All the while, you're being hunted by a partnership and you have no clue who they are. There are only a couple safe zones: the dining hall and classes during class time and Sunday's.
Basically, playing this game means you are paranoid. all the time. The first day I literally walked around campus with my highlighter at the ready... just in case anyone came running at me. I mean, I'm sure everyone thought the 64 freshmen walking around with markers and looking paranoid was pretty entertaining. Wellll... long story short, if you ever play this game, be partners with Kayla. She's pulling us through, thanks to an epic hunt down of our first partnership {which, by the way, were Cady and Hunter. I still say the drawing was rigged, Harrison!}!

Well... after this long week I'm finally off to bed! ...hoping that I won't wake up a hundred times during the night because of dreams about failing my tests {yeah, that's actually what has been happening the last couple days}

oh... how fun were the nights that I didn't do homework until midnight?? No. ok, sorry I'm complaining... it's really not that bad. I'm enjoying most of my classes, but there was a problem with my mind when I was registering for them. My sister gave me some great advice- take 2 hard classes, 2 moderate classes, and 2 easy classes. That's what I thought I was doing, but instead I got myself into 2 hard classes, 3 classes that require a ton of reading and memorizing and there are quizzes so you actually have to know that material, and one class that requires doing a very long excel project every week. So that's fun.
Ok... done with my complaining because it's really not as bad as I'm making it sound! kinda.
My disclaimer for this post is that it'll be really random for various reasons. The first of which is the fact that I have a cold and therefore just took Niquil. so, that makes me a little crazy. but that's all good.
first off, last weekend I got to go back to Colorado and show Cady around! I would love to blog all about it, but frankly I don't really feel like it. The past couple of weeks I've been going to the BYU gym... and I've sorta fallen in love with running. So there's that.
Also, I've been listening to lots of music. Because I love music. While I'm doing homework I listen to white noise {literally static}, so I have to reward myself by listening to regular music between my different homework tasks. It's a very productive method. Overall, not to brag or anything, but I'd say that I am a pretty good homework-doer.
I wrote a sociology paper based off of this Components of Class graphic. I realized just how blessed I am in my life. I really encourage you to look at it!
I have become the worst texter known to mankind. Exhibit A would be the fact that my total texting count for last month was around 600. For a teenager who used to send thousands of texts, this is saying something. So if you text me, I'm really sorry if I don't continue the conversation. I've become a hater of texting just for the heck of it.
I'm doing intramural tennis with a kid in my ward. Our first match was last night and we have another tomorrow! Oh, how I missed playing tennis.
Cady, Kayla, and I are working on meeting new people. Today I met a kid from the town in Alabama that Zach is currently serving in... how weird, right?!
My Econ class is my favorite. Is that normal?
Sometimes I forget that social media sites besides Twitter exist. Thanks Kayla for getting me hooked on tweeting! I'm also pretty sure that I could do nothing other than quote Cady, Kayla, and my geography teacher. No doubt.
Oh, the mission calls are flooding in! There were several kids from my ward who got calls this week, and there are tons more to come in the next couple weeks!
Guys, I'm moving to LONDON. I still haven't grasped that yet.
And speaking of London, I'm poor and trying to find a good summer job is stressful.

I got my Wall Street Journal subscription today. thank you student discount. {first off, I had to for Econ, but second off, I've been reading it via the day old papers at the cannon and I already feel way more informed. which is great.}
I miss the stars so much. Walking home at night is getting to me. There are no stars here {and that's my only complaint about BYU so I suppose I can live.}
Sometimes I really have the urge to buy myself a bouquet of flowers {but not roses. because roses are awful.} There's a completely random fact about me for the day.
I really want to redesign my blog. but alas, I don't have the time, nor do I have the motivation. So I'll have to live with it until this summer.
I used to love my middle name, so I used it in everything I did. Now I'm kinda regretting it. But it's whatever.

*don't let things stress me out. I only get one freshmen year, so I might as well live it up! *be healthier {no, I'm not saying run a marathon, but I do plan on getting up to do insanity with Cady and Kayla more often} *get 7 hours of sleep for the majority of nights {this is going to be a struggle living in the dorms} *leave my phone in my backpack during the day... and don't check it more than once an hour. *delete all social media apps off my phone other than twitter and instagram. {check. done.} *leave earlier so I can walk to class slower. then introduce myself and sit by new people in class. *completely quit saying "like" {Cady and I have been working on this, and let me tell you, it's really tough}

you know how in my last post I said that I didn't have much homework? I take it all back. seriously. I have 6 papers and a multi-model project due this week. {ok, one paper is due wednesday, and a couple on thursday}. Long story short, as much as I would love to share all of my pictures from the Temple Square lights last weekend, it'll have to wait. because I'm going to bed. after a nice little 5 hour session in the library. all so I can wake up and do it again tomorrow!
In the meantime, you can listen to this awesome Bach fugue for organ that I wrote my humanities paper on tonight! I'm still just really astounded by the fact that someone can play this...
p.s. don't worry. I've finished one paper, and I don't have to start from scratch on the others because I've been working on them for a while.

+I am beyond excited to go home for thanksgiving {hello sleeping in my own bed!} one week.
+This week was great... studying pays off, guys! that's what I tell myself at midnight in the library at least.
+I'm sitting at Sam's making a cake and blogging and watching videos. yes. fantastic afternoon. best friends for the win.
+I got to sleep in today... thank you classes that get cancelled! really, I just don't sleep often.
+Sam put in her mission papers and I am probably 100% as excited to find out where she's going as she is.
+I love finding new music! current obsessions:
+In humanities we're talking about visual art. aka, paintings and sculptures. but it also means architecture. which is my f a v o r i t e . buildings are cool, ok?!
+I made the greatest apple pie in my food prep class all by myself on wednesday. then we ate it at our science review. and let me tell you, not to brag, but it was delicious.
+I may or may not be addicted to spotify.
+I had my first j-dawgs this week! not too bad, I'd say.
+and now is a fun-filled friday night to celebrate Hunter and Liz's birthday! {more later}
that's right, folks. I went to my first concert! And, remember how I'm absolutely in love with the band Parachute? Like, since the day that I downloaded their song from the weekly free iTunes {literally, over 2 years ago}? yep. I saw them in concert. and I swear, it was the best night of my life. It started out with Sam texting me when I was in Boston that they were going to be in Salt Lake... and we've sorta been counting down the days. And it was totally worth it.
We rode the front runner up to salt lake {ah, the hassles} and got there right in time!
I had a late class, so Sam went to SLC earlier and we all followed (: aren't the girls from my hall awesome?? {photo cred to Ty}
The first band that opened for Parachute was called Paradise Fears. and let me tell you, they may be a new favorite! I had never heard of them, but no worries, I now have some of the music... oh, and a picture with the lead singer (:
We tried to take a few pictures... which didn't exactly work out due to a major lack of lighting-
Right after the concert we headed back to the train station. Unfortunately, we missed the train and the next one didn't leave for an hour and a half, and we were quite hungry. Long story short, we got on a train into the town, and realized that basically every restaurant closes before 11, and we got some faulty taco bell directions. this is the point when I would say hashtag-roaming-around-salt-lake-city {don't worry Mom, we were safe (: } We ended up rushing into Applebees and boy, those people were nice and they had our food out quick enough we didn't miss the train :D
We got back around 1-ish, and then it was homework time {for me, at least}
Oh, well. It was most definitely worth it. Best first time concert experience I could have asked for!! Bucket list item crossed off!
well, I got back from FCCLA state and then immediately went to the Pavilion to play in a quintet (is that the word?) for the CASA benefit. let me tell you people... I am tired.
well... I do have very exciting news however!
WE GOT GOLD! AND WE QUALIFIED FOR NATIONALS!!
yep... year two(: remember how we went to Orlando, Florida last summer for FCCLA nationals? Yep, this year Nationals is in Nashville! So... yes. All four of us (that's right, both Montrose teams) qualified, and yes, we totally and 100% plan to attend (heck, I'm not going to girls camp or trek this year, so why not?!?).
Maybe I should rephrase that sentence. We plan to attend as soon as we find a way to fundraise for a large majority of the money. So... yeah. But check out the hotel that we'll be staying at!!!

So... yeah. I'll write a ton more about our little trip to Denver for State Competition. As soon as I get some pictures uploaded. At this point I feel like wrapping up in a blanket and watching Brave. So that's what I'm going to do.
But before I do that, I have wanted to update ya'lls on my current obsession of music. In reality, I've owned their first CD since the day that one of their songs was free on iTunes like a year ago. And their second CD didn't disappoint either. But for the last couple of months or so, ALL I DO is listen to Two Door Cinema Club.
So, yeah. Anywho. Hope everyone is having a fantastic day, and my State Competition will be up soon! (hopefully tomorrow). I just thought I'd let everyone know about our wonderful GOLD MEDAL!
To start off... All-State Choir was absolutely amazing! I mean, I can't even explain how amazing it was, but I'll have to save that for my Honor Choir posts! Adam's State Honor Choir is tomorrow (and Taylor, Samantha, and Jennifer will all be there as well... whoooo! I have friends going!) so next week I'll blog all about the wonderfulness that is honor choirs and dinner theater! But, in the meantime, may I please introduce you to my newest love? Ben Rector.

All state.
i made all state choir again. definitely excited... bbut, once again, i was the only one from my school, so i'm really really bummed about that. field trip for me and my choir teacher. yay yay. since i was in mixed choir last year, i'm going to be in women's this year. just so ya'll can appreciate how absolutely wonderful all state is, here is my favorite song from last year. i was in this choir, kay? i can't even believe i got the opportunity to sing with people this amazing. and the men. yay.

just a little side note, all state was the reason i decided i was in love with choir. high school choir, and even the other honor choirs i've been to, can't compare. all state is the best experience, musically,

So, over the past couple days, my mom and I went to tour BYU and BYU-Idaho... now, since 7 different people wanted to know what I thought about the two different BYU's, I'm going to devote an entire (attempting to be non-biased) post about that. So, I won't be talking much about the tours in this post(:

We got up ssuupppeeerrr early and hit the road to provo. we got there, picked up Makayla and toured(:
I think one of the best parts about Provo, is that everyone is crazy about BYU... i mean, the cougar car wash? and BYU wallpaper in Wendy's... not to mention the hallway being named after the mascot...

Wednesday.
Well, Tuesday night we stayed at Danielle's house and wednesday we went to the new shopping center in downtown Salt Lake City. Man, "City Creek" mall was the nicest outdoor mall (or overall mall in general) that this world has ever seen. (or at least that i've ever seen...)
It's outdoor, but it has a glass ceiling over it, so it's cool and shaded for the most part, (except the fountains that are outside), not to mention that it really does have a creek running directly down the center of it...

So... school shopping. yeah, best year ever. because i was given a budget, then was let free to walk around the mall (looking like a loner with no friends) shopping to my hearts content. actually... until the money my mom gave me ran out, but you know, it's whatever.
p.s. i got the best pair of jeans ever. literally. ever. mid-rise straight dark wash jeans. they were my dream jeans. and they were super expensive because the were at The Gap. but honestly, i would have been willing to not have gotten any other clothes. that's how amazing they are. comfortable. and not low rise. i swear, i would have gotten them in every wash if they weren't out of my size.
Then we drove to my Uncle's house in Ogden, so we'd be closer to Rexburg.
Thursday.
We got up (early again.) and drove to Rexburg. man, was that drive ugly. no offense, but (if you've ever been to colorado), you know that stretch between green river and grand junction? yeah, it was that ugly. THE WHOLE WAY. but... the Idaho campus was BEAUTIFUL in spots. that's an understantment actually, but i'll get to that in my next post(:
so we toured the campus.
and ate lunch in the same cafeteria as all the EFY kids. and i was so jealous. i miss EFY :(
then we drove back to Danielle's...
Friday.
We got up (semi-early) and drove to BYU and toured Heritage, then walked around campus, then toured Wyview... yep, then I drove home. (yes, i drove from Provo to Montrose... the longest i've ever driven. and in city traffic. i was so proud!) oh, and i listened to David Archuleta's album basically the whole way home... yeah, my mom and I got a bit tired of it, but it was still amazing(: Future plans:
the youth tennis tournament is tomorrow! and school starts in a week from monday... quite depressing really...
